Huge suspicious looking sausages

Well now… it’s been a while… be gentle…

Much apologies for my lack of updates my laziness got the better of me.

The Big D suffered a bit over the holiday. I promised myself I wouldn’t let a diet ruin my ability to have a good time. So although I didn’t go too mad, I still went a little mad :)

..and the damage is tangible and squidgy!

But not as bad as I might have feared at the beginning of this week I was 3 lbs heavier than my current milestone (1 stone off)… so back to it this week, shed that 3lbs then into the Big D full steam!

I really really need to add some form of exercise to my schedule, but it’s way to cold for cycling and I just cannot justify the cost and boredom of a gym :( Thoughts? I’ve considered buying some random equipment for the house… but they would probably grow dusty and unused in a cupboard… grrr You win again Laziness!!

Waiter, there is a fat person eating my dinner…

Was looking like a good week, then I go and ruin it at the last minute by having a birthday! ;)

Pah, ‘ruined’ is a strong word, ‘back-peddled’ a bit, maybe.

Suffice it to say that I reached my current mini-goal of 1 stone off on Saturday morning, then went out for a very enjoyable birthday meal and find myself having gained a lb since last week this morning… eek. Oh well, life ain’t worth living if you don’t live it.

Went out to what was a lovely restaurant in Warrington, called “Mojo”. I wouldn’t recommend it any more :(

2 years ago it was the location of my proposal to my beautiful wife and the source of some lovely meals, including  small ocean’s worth of muscles for starter! Yum! However today it is a tapas place and although the food was ok, the service was shocking. Yes it busied up while we were there, but we had to go to the bar several times to order our own drinks a dessert was forgotten, all in all it screamed of a service in need of organising. A real shame since I loved the place for sentimental reasons. I shall keep my eye on it and try again if they change hands again.

Larger than average, smaller than before.

A very good week in my opinion! :)

Not only did I exercise a great deal of will power and avoid a good few temptations this week, additionally I have lost 4 lbs since last Monday. Which has the further plus of helping me break the 13 stone barrier, as of this morning I am 12 st 11 lbs and I am chuffed.

That’s 11 lbs off in 5 weeks. I should pass the 1 stone off milestone some time this week :) Win!

My trend now points to goal weight being achieved sometime in the middle of April, which is two months over my original target of middle of February and with Saturnalia round the corner that may go further and further away. However with a dedicated will I don’t see why I can’t improve a little on this.

A really good idea would be to put some exercise, no matter how small, into my routine, but I really am crap at that… and bike riding in this weather, erk, no thanks. We shall see.

Thats not a ham, it’s just a fat kid.

No weight lost or gained this week. I had a bad one. Ate out no less than 3 times! Very bad.

Which isn’t to say that I’ve stopped trying. There are options when you go to a restaurant… Jacket potato instead of chips for example and a lovely steak yummy. So rather than evil, these outings can be just simply a bit bad. Pasta with a tomato-based sauce is another option.

Week 3

Monday, November 2nd, 2009

Well the hunger is starting to kick in now. Another 2lb off this week which is good, but I’m definately missing a few food groups now.

Why is it so difficult to find the time to actual eat when we say we are going to eat? Breakfast is the killer. I can’t eat first thing, when I get up, it makes me feel sick during the car/bike journey into work, so I wait till I get to work and then usually we discover no milk in yet… and by the time it comes in it could be near 10am, I start work at 8!

Ah well, if it wasn’t a struggle of some sort it wouldn’t be worth doing eh?

Week 2 in the Big Fatty House

Monday, October 26th, 2009

Hmmm I may drop the ‘Big Fatty House’ bit, it’s a little demorolizing ;)

Anyhoo, 2 weeks through and a total of 7 lbs lost. Gradual though this loss may be I’m on course for my goal by Feb 12th 2010.

I’m pleased to say I’ve acclimatised to the diet quite well. For me, it’s all about dropping the crap and swapping a few bits here and there, which has worked out quite well. In essence snacking has gone or been replaced by fruit or carrot sticks. Semi-skimmed milk has been replaced by Skimmed and Lunch (especially at work) has gone from crappy-crapness (standard food stuffs available from the canteen) to baked potato, soup or stuff from home. Evening meals are mostly the same with again a little ingenius use of alternatives.

So the bottom line is I’m fully commited to the Big D this time round. For the vast most part I’m even enjoying it… weird I know. :)

Week 1 in the Big Fatty House

Monday, October 19th, 2009

Time and blubber has moved on and we are 1 week into the Big D.

This morning I weighed in 4 lbs lighter than last Monday. A pleasing total I must say, according to my ‘trend’ I’m on course for my goal at the end of February, my aim is for the middle of Feb, but we can work on that.

A good week despite getting the points system backwards is encouraging so we’ll see how this week goes. :)

Day 5

Friday, October 16th, 2009

So the Bid D is still ongoing. Exciting stuff 5 days into it.

Was a little disheartened yesterday when I realised that of my 21 ‘points’ I was allowed for the week, I was currently running at 47.5… and the excess can easily be seen to be coming from simple stuff like toast with my breakfast and semi-skimmed milk in my coffee! This happens when you have 4-5 cups per day… and I like a milky coffee (1/4 of a pint in each cup!!).

Today will see a removal of bread from my breakie and a switch from semi-skimmed to skimmed in the coffee.

Which is not to say the D isn’t progressing, it is. I’m seeing a nice downward curve in the weight trend line after simply cutting out the crap, chocolate for example. So hopefully a better understanding of what is ‘pointy’ will get me on an even better track.

Day 2 in the Big Fatty House

Tuesday, October 13th, 2009

Yes, day 2 of the latest (and greatest) Big D. I am on a diet and aiming to loose 3 stone in 4 months.

Outrageous! No one can do that!

Yeah you may think that but I have the will power of a small african toad. I shall prevail.

Afterall didn’t I come into work this morning and the first thing someone said to me was, “Would you like a muffin?”

“No, thankyou.” said I. Check it out, all the willpower the world has to offer, rar!
