Larger than average, smaller than before.

November 16th, 2009

A very good week in my opinion! :)

Not only did I exercise a great deal of will power and avoid a good few temptations this week, additionally I have lost 4 lbs since last Monday. Which has the further plus of helping me break the 13 stone barrier, as of this morning I am 12 st 11 lbs and I am chuffed.

That’s 11 lbs off in 5 weeks. I should pass the 1 stone off milestone some time this week :) Win!

My trend now points to goal weight being achieved sometime in the middle of April, which is two months over my original target of middle of February and with Saturnalia round the corner that may go further and further away. However with a dedicated will I don’t see why I can’t improve a little on this.

A really good idea would be to put some exercise, no matter how small, into my routine, but I really am crap at that… and bike riding in this weather, erk, no thanks. We shall see.

Ong Bak 2, Gamer and Surrogates

November 12th, 2009

Watched Ong Bak 2 and was confused.

Enjoyed it to be sure, but I think I lost the plot a little towards the end and started to miss what was happening story-wise. However that said I do have to mention the awesome martial arts which I have come to expect from these kinds of films now. They were incredibly good.

Watched Gamer, enjoyed thoroughly.

As far fetched as the concept is, I really enjoyed the film. Also loved the two leads Dexter’s Michael C. Hall and Gerard Butler. Look out for the dancing! :)

Watched Surrogates last night, enjoyed it.

Some decent special effects and an interesting enough story to keep me entertained. I also noticed vague similarities between this film and Gamer… the idea of controlling something else from your own home, be that a machine or person. I’ve noticed that before where a spate of films will come out, all with a similar theme or core. I did however think the idea that over the course of such a short time the human race would almost all decide to live their lives through their surrogates. It also pointed out in the film several times what I think would be the fundamental flaw… you simply don’t know who you are talking to if you are talking to a machine. It’s like the logical extreme of sitting in a chat room anyone can pretend to be anyone else, and that just wouldn’t work.

Thats not a ham, it’s just a fat kid.

November 9th, 2009

No weight lost or gained this week. I had a bad one. Ate out no less than 3 times! Very bad.

Which isn’t to say that I’ve stopped trying. There are options when you go to a restaurant… Jacket potato instead of chips for example and a lovely steak yummy. So rather than evil, these outings can be just simply a bit bad. Pasta with a tomato-based sauce is another option.

Jennifer’s Body

November 5th, 2009

Just watched ‘Jennifer’s Body‘… I actually enjoyed it :)

Don’t really know why. It’s a bit predictable, a bit obvious, but meh I think I was just in the mood for some harmless fun in film form.

I really liked the heroin of the story, loved the ending. Megan Fox I still think is pretty damned hot, not as hot as she is portrayed, but then I am a picky soul ;)

The film is marketed as a Horror / Comedy which I think is interesting. Certainly there were some funny bits.. dark, but funny, but not laugh out loud funny.

Biggest question after watching it… whats with the teacher with one arm and burn marks on his throat? Why? Whats that all about?

Moody Pie

November 2nd, 2009

Not in a good mood this morning. A lot of work I got done over the weekend now has to be redone and I just want it done and gone now.

On the plus side I had an odd dream last night. I basically dreamt an episode of Scrubs, but not one we’ve already seen. Turns out Jordan and JD slept together again, but it was in retaliation of Perry sleeping with someone, not that JD knew that. Then there was a strange bit where they were hopping on and off elevators in some appartment building… and in one elevator there was a television showing news of some weather disaster in some country somewhere, hurricane or some such, and in the same one was a female news broadcaster and an old man droning on and on about something, although not at the same time… weird I have distinct memories of the old man and the news caster both in that same elevator but not at the same time. Maybe one got off?

Week 3

November 2nd, 2009

Well the hunger is starting to kick in now. Another 2lb off this week which is good, but I’m definately missing a few food groups now.

Why is it so difficult to find the time to actual eat when we say we are going to eat? Breakfast is the killer. I can’t eat first thing, when I get up, it makes me feel sick during the car/bike journey into work, so I wait till I get to work and then usually we discover no milk in yet… and by the time it comes in it could be near 10am, I start work at 8!

Ah well, if it wasn’t a struggle of some sort it wouldn’t be worth doing eh?

Wow.. annoyance

November 1st, 2009

Seems there has been a change, and simply saving my whole Wow directory doesn’t cut it anymore :(
Upon logging in it refused to admit I had the latest expansion installed. So I’ve had to do a complete install, and jeebus that takes ages!
Still done now, should be able to start playing again tonight! Woot!

Phone to the rescue

October 31st, 2009

WIN! I only have about 500MB left on my internet usage this month so grabbing some entertainment was going to be a no no… until I remembered my phone!

Take one phone, an unlimited internet contract, a USB cable and *BING*, one laptop connected to the internet via my phone! Win win!

Sure it’s pretty slow, but slow is better than not at all! :)

Will be interesting to see at what point I get traffic shaped :)

Seriously… can’t stop
